Changes to duty with regards to red diesel
Changes to duty with regards to red diesel
With effect from 1 April 2022 the government has announced that the duty subsidy provided for rebated (red) diesel will be withdrawn. This affects the majority of industries and all the ones that we rent equipment to.
The implication of this is that, to comply with the law, it will only be possible to add white diesel to equipment from 1 April 2022
Preparing for change (From 14th March 2022 we will only be purchasing white diesel)
This change brings many practical challenges as we all transition to the use of white diesel. In order to ensure compliance for ourselves and our customers, we will be switching to purchasing white diesel only from 14 March 2022. We are writing to all customers setting out this switch in more details as it will increase the amount we charge for diesel.
Our fleet is compatible with HVO fuel. It should be noted that the changes in government legislation around the changes in rebated fuel apply to HVO too.
How will this affect our customers?
We will be increasing our fuel charges to customers with effect from 14 March 2022. By law, any fuel added to equipment (by ourselves or our customers) from 1 April 2022 should be unmarked (white) diesel.
Choose greener solutions
If our customers are looking to mitigate the cost impact of this change and reduce carbon emissions we have an extensive range of electric and hybrid machines.
Our fleet is already heavily biased towards electric and hybrid machines 70% and our capital expenditure continues to be skewed toward these wherever credible greener alternatives exist.
